Inspections of this type are generally performed
for insurance purposes or as part of a pre-purchase inspection (certification).
A survey of this type covers:
- A determination of the structural integrity
of the hull
- Machinery and Hydraulics
- Electronic Equipment
- Navigational Instruments
- Communications - Radios
- Operational Safety
Often referred to as an insurance survey, a Condition
& Valuation report details the current condition of a vessel
and its equipment.
The work performed is similar to that of a marine
hull survey, but includes, as well, a detailed assessment - or appraisal
- of a vessel's current value on the open market.
Detailed Inspections are undertaken to assess
the extent of damage to a vessel or its equipment. All repair options
are fully explored, with the reports prepared by our marine surveyors
providing a detailed analysis of the costs involved.
If requested, an investigation is launched to
determine the cause and origin of the damage - an investigative
process fully documented by way of witness accounts, crew statements
and other supporting evidence.
A corrosion survey is performed to certify the
integrity of underwater metal fittings - and the zincs installed
on hulls to prevent corrosion.
Included also in the inspection is a check for
errant currents - DC and AC - the result of which can lead to accelerated
corrosion and safety problems.
The independent adjusters and surveyors with our
firm have considerable expertise in the adjustment of marine insurance
claims, including errors and omissions - professional liability
- arising from consulting and design services.
Below is a brief summary of our experience in
this area.
- Shipyards - Vessel Construction
- Port Facilities & Equipment
- Marinas
- Stevedore Claims
- Marine Cargo
- Products Liability - Manufacturers - Distributors

The expertise of our general average adjusters
in arriving at fair and equitable settlements between ship owners
and the owners of cargo and freight is highly regarded throughout
Asia.
Our services in this area include:
- Determination of the losses and expenditures
of the general average
- Value of the vessel
- Determination of the freight
- Value of the cargo
- Apportionment of the general average
Mediation services are provided by our staff of
professional mediators and marine surveyors as a cost-effective
solution to resolving the disputes between ship owners and repair
facilities.
Mediators are not judges; rather, they are a bridge
between the parties meant to facilitate a continuing dialogue or
discussion. Often, such disputes can be attributed to little more
than a lack of proper communication - both in-house and between
the parties - a problem that is quickly resolved through the intervention
of an independent - unbiased - mediator.
Experienced divers are supplied by our firm for
hull inspections, underwater engineering projects, general marine
installations and salvage recovery operations.
